Miranda Devita Kistler (b. 1999, Switzerland)
I am a visual artist who is driven by the fascination of awe. In my work I am strongly connected to nature and landscape. With a philosophical approach I obsessively investigate my environment. Photography for me is a way to think and reflect, and push boundaries of the seemingly obvious and to question the non visible.
Not just seeing but sensing my thoughts and research through my work, is my multi layered form of communicating. My interest lies in the perception.
I am fascinated with senses and emotions, particularly awe, because I see it as a tool which can hold different ways of knowing, perceiving and being. To more honestly understand the world around us.
With my work I aspire to recreate a sense of awe, for the viewer to forget themselves for a moment and dive into something seemingly, but not really, unknown.
She studied at the Zurich University of the Arts (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste) and is now currently studying photography at the Royal Academy of Arts (Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten), The Hague.
Lives and works between The Hague/Netherlands and Glarus/Switzerland.♡
